Patrick Joyce

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

Patrick Joyce is honored to begin this chapter of his career with Beacon Counseling Services. He brings a combination of clinical training and lived experience to his work, using both to support individuals as they navigate challenges and move toward healing and growth. Patrick believes in meeting clients where they are — emotionally and mentally — as the foundation for meaningful therapeutic change.

Patrick works with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, mood concerns, grief, trauma, psychosis, and other life stressors. As a combat military veteran, he has a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by service members and veterans, including PTSD, addiction, and the stigma often associated with trauma. He is especially passionate about supporting military personnel at every stage of their recovery journey.

His approach integrates evidence-based modalities tailored to each client’s needs. Patrick is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. He is certified in EMDR, DBT, and TF-CBT, and is also a State Certified Military Peer Support Specialist.

Patrick’s professional background includes 20 years of service in the North Dakota National Guard, prevention work with the North Dakota Department of Human Services, and providing therapy and crisis response through the Crisis Response Team at West Central Human Service Center. He values walking alongside clients as they take their next step toward healing and meaningful change.
